Showing livestock teaches life lessons for FFA members

Tia Catoir, a sixth-grader at French Settlement Elementary School, gets up at 5:30 every morning to feed her animals.
She wants to be a veterinarian.
Justin Vicknair, a senior at Springfield High School, tends the 13 cows and three pigs he’s bought with his own money.
He plans to study agriculture.
Jed Hoover, a senior at Albany High School, feeds his cattle, chickens and horses before school and after he finishes work at a part-time job.
He plans to major in criminal justice.
Long hours and hard work paid off for all three and for a number of other students Saturday as they won blue ribbons at the annual Livingston Parish 4-H and Future Farmers of America Livestock Show.
