Washington's Yelm FFA members teach lessons through fortune cookies

From The News Tribune in Tacoma, Wash.

On Thursday, Yelm High School students received fortune cookies with words of wisdom for drivers.

“Arrive alive, don’t text and drive,” said some of the cookies. “Alert today, alive tomorrow,” said others.

The messages were part of a monthslong safe driving campaign, called Project Tornado, by the school’s Future Farmers of America club. The fortune cookie distribution in the school’s parking lot was the latest in a campaign to promote safe driving in Yelm.

“You have to tell it like 10 times before they remember,” said Joyous Levien, 15, a student at Yelm High School and a member of FFA.
